That was because I hadn’t put the activation key into the OS yet. Meanwhile the OS was squawking at me that it was not activated and that I had a pirated copy.

I was able to figure out how to calibrate the touch screen (digitizer) and get the onscreen keyboard driver to work. It took me a little while to sort everything out, for the lack of experience with the tablet digitizer software.

I like to install the Video drivers first, as they tend to help with the rest of the process. Some manufacturers have a perfered order of install, I did not find one for the archos. My next step was to load the various drivers I had previously downloaded. But I did have the issue of having to plug in the Thumb Drive to load the OS, while I typed on the keyboard. I later learned that the unit has a builtin Thumb mouse sensor on the right side. And needed a keyboard and mouse to accomplish anything, as the touch screen drivers were not working properly yet. I did need the mini-replicator port, to get enough open USB ports to do this. This is the link for ARCHOS: I booted the computer with the newly loaded thumb drive, and installed the OS with very little fuss. Which I copied to the thumb drive so I could install them. I packed them all in a directory for later use.

This is largely going to the website for the manufacturer doing head scratching and navigating, and downloading all the appropriate files. Once I got that going, I had to locate the appropriate drivers for the computer I was working with. (I wonder what other OS’s I can load on that TD) A nice article on it: Microsofts Help Page: Download location. I finally used the Microsoft utility for this, (Windows7-USB-DVD-tool.exe) and Shazam, it worked like a charm. I tried a bunch of things, and nothing worked. There are lots of directions, involving some fancy formatting needed to make a thumb drive bootable. I went to the computer and bought a 8 gig high speed Thumb drive, the size had enough space for a copy of windows 7, and all the other stuff I wanted to load on this new pc.

So I thought I would write up the steps I took to rebuild the os, and share with the group.

Sync2 For Microsoft Outlook Serial on this page. It runs what I need, and it browses web just fine. It’s (not so obvious to some people) not a high end supped up Workstation PC. I read a variety of mixed reviews on this device, and in my opinion, it’s great as a tablet pc, and does an amazing job of running some heavy weight software. Perhaps some security wonk wiped it clean. I had some consern that the drive was a failed disk, but it worked fine. Which is fine for me, as it is now running fine with Window 7 Ultimate and Office 2010. My tablet came with no OS, Blank hard drive. To do so, during the installation process, we marked all the feature possible. We need to have TABLET PC SETTINGS available and working after the installation of the OS, this way we can work with our Touch Screen. Which one should we choose? Hope we find a solution with your admirable help. One is that the Packages WS7C and WS7E can't coexist with Table PC Support. What is it necessary to do to have the Tablet PC Settings Feature available on Windows Embedded 7 after the installation of the OS? Which Feature should we choose during the installation process? Os is it possible to add this feature later on? I notice that during the installation, when choosing all the features, there is some dependencies that need to be resolved to continue with the installation process. When creating the image I can see the package and even play with Tablet PC Support settings values but after the installation the package is not available at all.
